Modern Freediving is a very complex,
logistically demanding and potentially dangerous sport,
and rather than denying this obvious fact, our organization
has instead concentrated its efforts on two goals:
To implement a set
of safety standards that will make the sport as safe
as possible.
To instill safety
as an attitude in the minds of the current generation
of freedivers.
To that effect, FREE is the only organization in the
world today that offers a “Safety Diver”
course to educate all personnel providing safety for
freediving events in the right techniques and procedures.
Furthermore, we make the completion of this course a
requirement for all safety teams working in record attempts
or competitions. Likewise, on all of our courses, starting
with the entry-level Freediver course, we provide ample
safety and rescue education for our students. A condensed
version of the Safety Diver course manual is provided
here to share this valuable information with all interested
divers. There is also a list of all FREE Instructors
who are qualified to teach the Safety Diver course around
the world, and a link to Safety related Topics, such
as rescue gear, safety articles, etc.
